Medical Representative- Team Lead

JOB SUMMARY:        

The Medical Representative- Team Lead is responsible for coaching a team of assigned Medical Representatives on effective detailing at the trade level.  This includes but is not limited to accompanying Representatives on calls to ensure a quality call rate.  The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that the quality and consistency of service is maintained; attaining or surpassing monthly business targets; maintaining and expanding relationships with existing customers and creating new and innovative branding opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Growth & Development of Client Relationship

  • Visits Key Account Customers to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Schedules and executes accompanied visits with Medical Representatives to support presentation and selling the assigned range of Company products and services according to the promotional guide.
  • Performs periodic customer satisfaction surveys with internal and external customers related to Medical Marketing services.
  • Develops strategies for increasing opportunities to meet and engage key contacts in the medical and healthcare sector including key business people.

 

Access Management

  • Supports the Business Unit in developing and executing market access programmes including shaping strategy and tactics to effect the successful inclusion of target brands to hospital/institution and national formularies.
  • Develops and effectively rolls-out market access tools, through collaboration with the respective Suppliers, to ensure successful execution.

 

Analysis, Planning, Data Management & Reporting

  • Analyses sales reports provided by the Company and monitors achievement of set quotas making appropriate action plans to ensure achievement of same.
  • Keeps management informed by ensuring Medical Representative teams submit activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses, which should account for customer visits, market intelligence and key achievements on the trade.

 

Research & Knowledge Development

  • Seeks to achieve and maintain high level of technical and product knowledge and keeps up-to-date with the latest product and therapy area information provided by the Company and other reliable approved sources in order to support the interpreting, presenting and discussing of product information with health professionals during presentations.
  • Performs market research as requested by company.

Management of Marketing/Promotional Activity

  • Supports organisation of conferences and seminars for healthcare professionals as aligned with Company marketing strategy and with the expressed approval of the relevant Supplier.
  • Supports the company in planning, executing and monitoring special events, for customers and related organisations.

 

Team Co-ordination

  • Leads, supports, guides, coaches and supervises team members and/or groups of team members as required.
  • Provides on-the-job training to team members and/or groups of team members in key business areas, including but not limited to, in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medical marketing of the assigned supplier brand.
  • Assists with monitoring and enforcing the accountability of team members in line with key business expectations and metrics.
  • Prepares reports on the performance of team members and/or groups of team members as required.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Natural Science or Health Sciences.

 

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical Sales Industry.
  • Previous experience in managing and leading teams would be considered a strong asset.

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare landscape including the local public health system
  • Skilled in coaching and team development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer engagement skills.
  • Influential and persuasive and solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
